Am I ready to go Mac-only?
The same, unfortunately, is true for almost every other kind of hardware requiring specific drivers. A lot of modern printers "just work" with older printer drivers of similar models, so if you wind up stuck with something not on the list you might at least try it. Then, if it works, send a note to

Windows XP had the drivers for both printers but I could not get either printer to work properly. Are older printers made obsolete under Windows XP? No. Either of those should work if you use USB connections. Do *not* try to use a disk of drivers that come with the printer - ones for either of those are pre-XP and

mac drivers for old Epson Stylus Colour printer
I was hoping the problem would be a bi-directional setting in the driver like on the old desk jet printers (but no luck there.) Although graphics displayed fine, my old HP inkjet 1200 (don't have it anymore) steadfastly refused to print certain kinds of graphic elements. When I switched to an older printer driver, it suddenly worked fine. HP eventually released a driver that fixed the problem. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007

I'm looking for Photo 750 support in XP, but I may actually change printers anyways. Secondly, the printer driver tends to be a problem as you said, with older printers with newer software. Using a parallel input printer on a USB port?
The printer uses parallel connection then a cable to convert the parallel to USB (which uses a driver). This printer used to work, with XP and older computer that used the parallel port, very fast. Printer drivers for newer printers
Well, with all due respect, complaints like these of "old" hardware (7 year old printers, etc.) not functioning seem a bit of asking for too much. Isn't that really more a matter of the hardware manufacturers not making Vista drivers anyway? At home its different: I only have 1 GB of RAM (the work PC has 2),

The size is not right when printing.
First I thought that by going to Control Panel>> Hardware and Sound >> Printer>> And right clicking properties you could uninstall drivers. At leas to my recollection it was the case XP. It does not seem to be the case in Vista. What I suggest is this. Obviously you know the old printer's maker.
